EXMAR and Antwerp Maritime Academy strengthen partnership with new Memorandum of Understanding

EXMAR reinforces its commitment to excellence in maritime education and innovation by signing a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Antwerp Maritime Academy (AMA).

With this partnership, we deepen the collaboration between industry and the academic world. EXMAR and Antwerp Maritime Academy will work together to foster the development of future-ready maritime professionals. By sharing our expertise with the academy and its students, we help equip the next generation with the knowledge and skills to thrive in the future, while advancing research and innovation across the academy.

To mark this strengthened partnership, EXMAR is proud to present AMA with a model of the recently delivered vessel “ARLON”, one of world first ocean-going ammonia dual-fuel gas carriers. The ARLON represents EXMAR’s dedication to pioneering alternative energy solutions for the maritime industry, illustrating the ongoing transition toward decarbonization. EXMAR hopes the ship model will inspire AMA’s students and faculty, encouraging continued innovation and excellence in maritime education and research.

“As EXMAR continues to drive innovation in shipping, our collaboration with Antwerp Maritime Academy is more important than ever,” says François-Xavier Decleyre, Managing Director of EXMAR Ship Management. “By combining EXMAR’s practical expertise with academic excellence of Antwerp Maritime Academy, we can prepare maritime students for the future and build a partnership that benefits both education and the maritime industry.”

“Strong partnerships with leading maritime companies such as EXMAR are essential to preparing our students for a successful career at sea. By connecting academic knowledge with hands-on experience and real-world insights, we give our students a valuable understanding of the challenges and opportunities they will encounter in the maritime industry. This close link with the professional field not only enriches their learning experience, but also demonstrates the power of collaboration in shaping the maritime professionals of tomorrow,” says Rowan Van Schaeren, general manager Antwerp Maritime Academy.

This renewed partnership paves the way for joint educational programs, collaborative research, and knowledge-sharing initiatives, strengthening the maritime sector in Belgium and across Europe while contributing to the advancement of the global shipping industry.
