Leading the Way in Midsize Gas Carriers

The foundation of EXMAR’s success has always been its midsize gas carrier (MGC) fleet, which remains at the core of EXMAR’s operations being the world-leading operator of midsize gas carriers with a current fleet of 17 vessels and 16 newbuilding. EXMAR’s leadership in this critical segment is reflected in both EXMAR’s current fleet and forward-looking plans.

Four MGCs Under Construction at HD Hyundai Mipo, South Korea

EXMAR is currently overseeing the construction of six midsize gas carriers at HD Hyundai Mipo in South Korea, representing the forefront of shipping technology:

  • Dual-Fuel Ammonia Vessels: Four ships will be equipped with cutting-edge dual-fuel ammonia engines, positioning EXMAR as a pioneer in adopting cleaner and more sustainable maritime fuels. These vessels will be delivered in 2026
  • Dual-Fuel LPG Vessels: Two vessels, to be delivered in 2025, will run on dual-fuel LPG engines. This advanced technology provides both greater fuel flexibility and significantly reduced emissions.

These vessels represent a new generation of enlarged Midsize Gas carriers in line with our heritage of continued improvements

Newbuilding Contract from Avance Gas at CIMC Sinopacific

EXMAR recently acquired a newbuilding contract from Avance Gas at CIMC Sinopacific, adding four 41,000m³ dual-fuel LPG vessels to its fleet. These additions will broaden the fleet’s range of sizes and capabilities, enabling EXMAR to better serve existing customers and attract new business. This move underscores EXMAR’s strategy of maintaining a diverse and adaptable fleet to meet evolving market demands.

Six Charter-In Vessels from Jiangsu Yangzi-Mitsui Shipbuilding (YAMIC), China

To enhance fleet capacity, EXMAR has also committed to chartering six dual-fuel LPG MGCs currently being built at YAMIC in China. These vessels include:

  • Four 41,000m³ dual-fuel LPG carriers.
  • Two 49,000m³ dual-fuel LPG carriers, which are well-suited to replace existing large gas carriers (LGCs).

With our diverse fleet in terms of size and capabilities, EXMAR is well-positioned to provide customized solutions for a broad spectrum of client needs, cementing our reputation as a reliable and forward-thinking partner in the gas shipping industry.
