Automation Superintendent (Antwerp, Belgium)

The EXMAR Group is currently looking for an onshore Automation Superintendent to reinforce the EXMAR Shipmanagement infrastructure team in Antwerp.

Your role in the team
In this role you will provide electrical, instrumentation, and automation technical support for our LNG infrastructure assets. You will be in daily contact with our Technical Superintendents onboard and manage & support the projects to ensure safe, technically reliable, efficient and compliant operations in line with the industry and client standards.

Your responsibilities and tasks include:

• Monitor, collaborate and challenge the E/I/A scope for existing LNG assets and act as subject matter expert during newbuild LNG infrastructure assets.
• Provide day-to-day assistance on electrical, instrumentation, and automation matters and act as the primary contact person.
• Communicate regularly with Technical Superintendents, onboard staff, and multidisciplinary teams to align on technical operations.
• Prepare and review specifications for E/I/A-related repairs during dry-docking or maintenance periods.
• Propose and execute technical modifications to enhance reliability and performance.
• Monitor maintenance schedules and manage class and statutory certificates.
• Assist in planning and executing maintenance jobs, including unscheduled repairs.
• Provide clear reporting on progress, budgets, and compliance with respect to E/I/A.
• Assist in preparing technical budgets for operational expenses, projects, and dry-docks.
• Approve requisitions and purchases in line with approved budgets.


Your profile
• Master degree in automation or electromechanics and/or equivalent experience as an Automation Engineer.
• Minimum 3 years in a technical maritime role or sailing experience as an automation engineer.
• Knowledge of DCS, SIS, Honeywell,..
• Strong problem-solving and project management abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Preferably knowledge of maritime rules and regulations.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse stakeholders.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
