Presenting World’s First Ocean-going Ammonia Dual-fueled Sships at IMO’s MEPC 82

Kristof Coppé at IMO’s MEPC 82

Earlier this week, our colleague Kristof Coppé presented EXMAR’s world’s first ocean-going ammonia dual-fuelled ships at IMO’s MEPC 82. It’s crucial that regulations continue to evolve in support of these innovative technologies, encouraging additional investments from shipowners as we work to reduce emissions and achieve the IMO’s greenhouse gas reduction targets.

Today, I had the honor to be invited by the Belgian delegation to present EXMAR’s world-first oceangoing ammonia-fueled ships at IMO’s MEPC 82. These four vessels, set for delivery in 2026, will reduce CO2 equivalent emissions by 90% while sailing, contributing significantly to our fleet’s GreenHouse Gas emissions reduction.

Regulatory advancements are crucial for the safe adoption of ammonia fuel, aligning with IMO’s GHG goals.
