EXMAR and Excelerate Energy deliver the first LNG to the Northeast Gateway Energy Bridge™ in the USA and establish the first ever LNG import terminal in South America

May 2008

2008 marked the delivery of EXPLORER, the first of a series of five 150,900m3 LNG regasification vessels. The vessel was time chartered to Excelerate Energy for 25 years. EXCELSIOR commenced regasification operations in June at the Bahia Blanca Gasport® in Argentina, with a subsequent first ship-to-ship transfer at the location by LNGRV EXCELERATE. Meanwhile Excelerate Energy’s Northeast Gateway Energy Bridge™ was inaugurated in May using EXCELLENCE, with the vessel regasifying on board and discharging high pressure gas directly into the consumer grid system via a dedicated mooring arrangement and subsea high pressure pipeline.
