EXMAR and Teekay strengthened their ties further by entering into a 50-50 joint ownership of the existing midsize fleet, and committing to the long term LPG fleet expansion together with the co-ownership of the four Hyundai Mipo vessels under construction. The two companies also announced an agreement to jointly build between four and eight additional midsize carriers at Hanjin Heavy Industry's yard in Subic Bay in the Philippines.

On 25th June, LLOG Exploration announced the agreement for EXMAR to assist in the design of a new production semisubmersible hull for installation in the Gulf of Mexico in 2014. The design was to be based on EXMAR’s proprietary OPTI® series of hulls, with EXMAR providing the OPTI® design package, engineering services, project management and construction supervision for the hull.
