In 2002 behaalde hij een Master of Laws (LL.M.) in het maritiem recht aan de Universiteit van Londen.<br\/>Na een driejarige opleiding bij het Antwerpse maritieme advocatenkantoor Kegels &amp; Co werd hij in 2006 toegelaten tot de balie van Antwerpen.
