EXMAR operates globally and as such is governed by many diverse and complex regulatory systems. To conform with the Corporate Governance Code established by the Belgian authorities for listed multinational corporations, EXMAR has adopted its own Corporate Governance Charter which was approved by the Board of Directors on 31 March 2010 and updated by the Board of Directors on 3 December 2020.. Compliance is part of the business strategy and operations of the whole organisation, leading to better overall performance.<\/p>

Compliance program<\/span><\/p>

To ensure compliance with rules and laws, and to reduce the risks of infringements and the adverse consequences for EXMAR and all the stakeholders, the Board of Directors decided to implement a compliance program for EXMAR.<\/p>

This program was developed in cooperation with the management and external advisers and is based on the international standard COSO Framework (COSO stands for \u2018Committee of Sponsoring Organizations\u2019). It aims for a permanent state of compliance by means of procedures and structures that are intended to provide continuous improvement.<\/p>

The compliance program is included in\u00a0the Compliance Model.<\/a><\/p>

This model describes the structures and procedures that are used to assess and detect risks, to report and curb violations, and finally to make our employees aware and provide them with additional training.<\/p>

EXMAR Ship Management complies with the ISM Code, the International Management Code for the Safe Operation of Ships and for Pollution Prevention, implementing a Safety Management System based on the principles of continuous improvement, and which meets and exceeds the demands and requirements of numerous international standards.<\/p>

With EXMAR operating globally in a world with constant and rapidly changing geopolitical risk, the security of our people and our assets are systematically assessed and monitored throughout. Our security measures are primarily based on the ISPS code (the International Ship and Port facility Security Code) and the Best Management Practices for Protection against Somalia-based Piracy.<\/p>

EXMAR Ship Management goes further by continuously monitoring the world\u2019s hotspots, keeping our personnel informed and by taking the necessary measures to protect them. We make use of our established contacts with local diplomatic services, naval and security specialists to refine our measures, ensuring a secure working environment for our people and the continuity of our business.<\/p>

EXMAR also carries out regular full emergency drills which combine simultaneous real-life simulations on board and in the office with the supervision, intervention and participation of external agencies, including EXMAR\u2019s clients, classification societies, flag states, regulatory authorities and compliance

ISO Certification<\/b><\/span><\/p>

EXMAR Ship Management engages in third-party audits to obtain an independent assessment of the compliance and continual improvement of our health and safety, environmental, energy efficiency and quality management performance.

    Tanker Self-Assessment Standard<\/b><\/span><\/p>
